World One Health Day reminds us of a fundamental truth: human health cannot be addressed in isolation from the health of animals and the condition of the natural environment.

In today’s rapidly changing world, the major challenges to public health recognize no borders and cannot be confined to a single scientific discipline. Climate change, zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, emerging infections, food safety and the protection of biodiversity all demand early prevention, evidence-based science, and, above all, sustained and determined collaboration.

This is the essential message of One Health: People, animals, and the environment are part of one interconnected health system.

The Mediterranean Center for One Health Innovation (MED-OHC) is committed to advancing precisely this vision. It invests in knowledge, scientific collaboration and the integration of diverse fields around a common goal: building societies that are better prepared and more resilient – capable of preventing risks and protecting public health more effectively.

One Health is more than a scientific approach. It is a modern strategy for prevention and resilience. It is how we can confront tomorrow’s challenges before they become today’s crises.

On November 3, we do more than mark a global observance. We renew our commitment to a world in which prevention comes before crisis, science provides the answers and opens new pathways and health is understood as one interconnected and indivisible whole.

Because One Health means healthy people, healthy animals and a healthy planet.

MED-OHC remains firmly committed to this shared endeavor.
