Professor Andrew Peters, DVM, PhD, Visiting Professor of Tropical Medicine, Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Director of Supporting Evidence based Interventions-Livestock (SEBI), University of Edinburgh, UK, was in Athens in mid-December last year, accepting the invitation of the President of “Asclepius One Health” to meet members of the AOH Scientific Board, this time in person. In this three-day meeting, the President, Mrs. E. Pavlidou, DVM, MBA, together with Professor Dr. Georgios Valiakos, DVM, MSc, PhD, Assistant Professor at the University of Thessaly, had the opportunity to discuss current matters, as well as to plan new strategies for actions in Greece and abroad, within the framework of One Health. In particular, inspired by AOH’s action in Kenya, the possibility of possible collaborations in African countries was further discussed.
The internationally renowned Professor was welcomed to our country by the President of the Panhellenic Veterinary Association, Ms Athina Trachili, DVM, MSC, and Vice President of the Union of European Veterinary Practitioners. “It is a great honor for our country, 4 years after our first meeting, the “1st Forum on Integrated Health in Greece”, and we hope to continue our cooperation in the context of promoting Integrated Health in our country and the region of South-Eastern Europe”.
The Professor was excited about the actions of ”Asclepius One Health”, which are innovative and of international character, and pledged to help: ”the work of this group is the essential approach to the concept of One Health both on a theoretical and practical level. ‘Asclepius One Health’, is ‘One Health in Practice’.”
