Dr. Papakonstantis graduated from the Veterinary School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2004. In 2005 he finished his postgraduate training in companion animal soft tissue surgery at the Department of Surgery of the same University.
From 2005 until 2018 he worked as a veterinary surgeon in numerous veterinary clinics in the greater London and greater Athens area.
Since 2018, he has focused on canine and feline clinical nutrition with special focus on obesity.
In 2021 the textbook “Η Παχυσαρκία στον Σκύλο και στη Γάτα” was published with himself as the editor for the Greek language of the textbook “Obesidad Canina y Felina” by Roberto Elices Minguez.
In 2027 the multi-author veterinary textbook “BSAVA textbook of Veterinary Nursing” will be published in the Greek language («Κτηνιατρική Νοσηλευτική»), with him as a co-editor and with the contribution of 10 authors.
He is lecturing in both Greek university veterinary schools, he is organizing webinars, obesity wetlabs and onsite educations of the VHCT –Veterinary Health Care Teams, all over Greece and abroad. Furthermore, he is teaching Canine and Feline Clinical Nutrition in a Private School of Veterinary Nursing.
He has attended more than 200 Veterinary Congresses in Greece and abroad, in some of them as invited speaker, he has 3 scientific publications, and hundreds of veterinary articles for pet parents published in printed and online media and he is often invited as a pet health expert in TV shows.
His main research and clinical focus is on canine and feline adiposity based chronic disease (ABCD) and its relation to overall health, wellbeing and healthy longevity.
He has been invited speaker in Medical Congresses related to Obesity and Metabolic Diseases informing medical professionals about the obesity issue in veterinary medicine in the context of One Health.
